Calbayog City has a total land area of 90,300 hectares which is .301% of the archipelago's total land area, 4.21% of the regional land area, 6,724% of Samar Island and 16.10% of the land area of Samar Province, and is located in Region VIII.

Calbayog City is located in the western coast of Samar Island 60 miles from the northern tip, 180 miles east to west from the southern tip and 64 miles east to west from the coastal boundaries of eastern and western provinces of the island.
